Poem #1: Just Imagining…

Here is a poem that I made a few days back. Hope you enjoy it!

Just Imagining…

I imagine,

                                                              Yes, that is true

I imagine myself flying

Or swimming the deep blue

No matter what I do

I always keep in mind

Never stop dreaming

And always keep trying

Comment below and tell me what you think about the poem… even though it’s pretty short. Tell me if I should post more poems like this!

Over the weekend…

Well, nothing really interesting happened. But… my mom made pancakes! My mom doesn’t make it often so when she did it on Saturday I was so happy!!! Do you like waffles or pancakes better? I’d prefer pancakes over waffles any day. Other than that, nothing spectacular happened. It was the same old classes and staying home doing nothing. My weekend wasn’t that great, but comment below and tell me what you did over the weekend! Oh wait. Before I forget. There was a second highlight of my weekend. I finished the 9th book from this series: “Series of Unfortunate Events” by Lemony Snicket. It was awesome! I wanted to get the 10th book, but we aren’t allowed to go to the library this week because of 8th grade SOL’s. (Lemony Snicket is a pseudonym, in case you were wondering) Anyway, the book was really good, and I can’t wait to get the next one!

Slice of Life: One of the best books ever!

Just recently, I finished this book called “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was so good! This isn’t my first time reading it though. I think I have read it almost 5 times! That’s how good it is, and it gets even better the more times you read it. At first, I was almost going to abandon the book (I know right!) but I kept on reading and I’m so glad I didn’t stop. I have to say, this is one of the best books I have EVER read but it’s super long (at least that’s what I thought) which makes you want to stop. Just in case you ever consider reading this book, make sure you read the whole thing no matter how much you want to quit, because trust me, you’ll be happy you read through it fully.

The most annoying thing…

Don’t you just HATE it when your teacher puts in the wrong  grade? It’s happened to me SO many times this year. Honestly, I find it very aggravating because then I have to keep on checking and really stay on top of my grades a lot. On top of that, I have to convince them they put in the wrong grade, and sometimes, they don’t even believe me! Can you believe it? It’s really frustrating, and most of the time, it takes weeks for them to actually change the grade because they “forgot” to change it. In my head, I’m literally telling myself, “they can’t possibly have so much work for them to forget to put in a grade!”

Mission Statement

Yes, it’s been a while since I have posted anything, but I decided that I would start again and blog as much as possible. Anyway, this blog post is about Mission Statements. For a few days now, my class and I have been working on something called a Class Mission Statements. At first, we worked in little groups or independently to create our own mission statements. After presenting, we took ideas we really liked from each mission statement and created one class mission statement. Personally, I think that writing a mission statement because the first thing you need to do is identify what the purpose of the mission statement is and what message you want to send to others. In our case, we wanted to right a mission statement that inspired to try your best and come to class with a smile. Some of you may be wondering, why do we need a mission statement? Well, a class mission statement is meant to give a certain objective and in a way, keep us on track. I think that our class mission statement will definitely change our classroom because it is kind of a “mantra” that each and everyone of us follows when we enter class. When we started with this assignment, I worked in a group, three people in total. I think it’s a better idea to work with a group because then you more opinions and ideas that can really make your mission statement stand out. When I worked in a group, I found that lots of us had many ideas, and when we worked together we came with a great mission statement that all of us were proud of. I think that making a mission statement is pretty easy and fun to do, but comes out even better if you experiment with it and try to make yours unique!

My OLW: Mirthful

My One Little Word is mirthful. I was having trouble deciding on which of these two words to choose: mirthful or hard-working. I decided that in my mind, I wanted to have multiple words to make this the most successful year yet, but I would only blog about one word: mirthful. I chose this as one of my words because I thought that this was a very important word to remember. It also has many meaningful definition that is bound to make this year really good. To me, this word reminds me to always keep happy and think positively. No matter what the situation, this is a word that will keep me going.

IMWAYR and #2 Book Review: Short UPDATE

Just yesterday, I finished the book called “Short.” It was really good! It’s a book that is meant for readers who like happy books. There are those occasional moments in the book where it is a little sad, but it’s mostly a happy book. The main reason that I think I really liked this book and why it stood out to me more than other books I have read, is that I really, really liked the main character. If there is a book where I really like at least one character, (preferably the main character) I enjoy the book even more. This is why I definitely recommend this book, because I know that anybody who reads this book will love the main character. I also really like the story-line because it’s something that I don’t feel I have ever read and keeps you wanting to read more and more. It’s different, and I like that. You’ll understand what I mean if you read it, so please do! Now what you have all been waiting for… my rating for the book. I rate it 5 out of 5! It’s an extremely good book and I really encourage every one of you to go order the book when it’s out! By the way, I have never read any of Holly Goldberg Sloan’s books before, but I know she wrote a book called, “counting by 7s.” I think it’s a pretty famous book because I know lots of people who have read it and liked it. I look forward to reading it soon. The book I have just started is called, “The Bridge To Never Land”. The authors of the book are Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. I just found out that they are the authors of the famous series called, “Starcatchers”. I am only a few pages into the book, so I don’t know too much. I will make a follow-up post about this book. I can’t guarantee that I will be finished by next Monday for the “IMWAYR” because it’s a VERY long book. So anyways, comment below what book you’re currently reading and there is one very important thing I want you to do, I want you to recommend some book to me! I don’t have a very long list of books that I want to read, so it would be great if you could suggest some to me. Thanks!

Reflection of Starting Middle School

When I first started middle school I was a complete mess. On the first day, I was having so much trouble with my locker, that it took me about 10 tries to open it! Another problem I had was that I was so scared of being late for my next block, that I never had time to clean my locker, and it was left a complete mess. The biggest problem was that there were SO MANY hallways and classrooms that I would often find myself lost, and eventually be late for class. I was not used to being in such a huge school and having a schedule that changed depending if it was A day or B day, that I had trouble for about the first two weeks. Now, it has been almost 3 months and it’s definitely getting better. I memorized my schedule and I pretty much know where to go in the school without having a problem. Since I know what my next class is at the top of my head, I know when it is a good time to get my locker cleaned, but it’s still a bit of a problem because my locker gets messy fast. Over time, it was easy to get into the flow of things. I’m definitely getting the hang of everything than when I first started middle school.

What I’m Doing for Winter Break!

As we all know, winter break is coming! For winter break, my family always goes on vacation for the two weeks. This year, I will be going to Orlando, Florida! I have been there before, but this time, I am going to Universal Studios! I have always wanted to go there because they have so many rides, and I absolutely love rides! (Especially the tallest and scariest ones!) Another exciting thing is that I’m not only going with my family, I’m going with my cousins too! I will arrive a few days earlier than them, but we are going to go on all the rides together. Fortunately, the weather is very nice and warm in Florida -unlike Virginia- in the winter, so I will also be going to the beach! Since, I will arrive in Orlando earlier than my cousins, I will probably be doing some extra things like going to a museum or going for some hikes. I love hiking! I’ve been waiting for this trip for a long time, and I can’t believe I’m actually going this year! Now, I only have to wait for about a week to go on vacation! I can’t wait!

IMWAYR and #2 Book Review: Short

IMWAYR stands for “It’s Monday, what are you reading?” So starting today, every Monday I will be writing a post about the book I am currently reading, which contains information like: if I recommend it, what I rate it, and lots more! The book that I am currently reading is called Short, and the author is Holly Goldberg Sloan. This book is an “ADVANCED READING COPY” which means that the book isn’t actually out yet for people to buy. I was able to get this book in advance from my teacher to do what I’m doing now, writing a review about it and inform others what I think about the book before it’s out! Anyway, I found this book VERY similar to another book I read a while back ( I wrote a book review on it! Check it out!) called, “Maxi’s Secrets”, because both books have a similar character and face similar problems. Another unusual similarity is that both characters owned dogs which plays another big role in the story line. So far, I’m really loving the book, and I definitely recommend it to those of you who like reading books about Realistic Fiction. I’m about ¾ done with the book, so I will also make a “follow-up” post when I’m done reading it. Comment below and tell me what book you’re reading!
